June 11, 2010: new this week on sorosoro.org
Another busy week for the Sorosoro crew, doing the do day after day…
Highlights include a new video available online now, as well as an account on the languages of South Africa (to live up the idea that a world cup is a chance for cultures to speak!)
Videos
- Moving on in our series on marriage and its side effects. This week we bring you another interview with Théodosie who tells us here about a rather peculiar Akele custom: the kidnapping of a future spouse by her future husband’s family.
- The first of our series’ episode – an interview with Jean Kédine on Akele marriage, now available with English subtitles.
Language and language family description sheets
A new language sheet provided by Senegalese linguist Adjiratou Sall (available in English within a few days) on Menik (Niger-Congo family, spoken in Senegal).
And five new language family sheets now available in English on:
- the Sko languages (Papua New-Guinea)
- the Sepik languages (Papua New-Guinea)
- the Ramu-Lower-Sepik languages (Papua New-Guinea)
- the Nyulnyulan languages (Australia)
- the Nimboran languages (Papua New-Guinea)
Sorosoro News
Sorosoro Director Rozenn Milin was invited on French regional TV channel France 3 Ouest last Sunday (June 6) to present the actions and objectives of the Sorosoro Program… in Breton no less!
