North America
Linguist Lenore Grenoble introduces the Kalaallisut language in Greenland, which is the only Arctic language that is not endangered …
North America includes Canada and the United States, but some classifications also add Mexico and the Caribbean. We chose not to make a decision on the matter, so we include the languages of these two entities (Mexico and the Caribbean) in both North America and Latin America.
Whether in one or the other part of the continent, the native languages are competing with two of the most hegemonic world languages, English and Spanish. Many of these native languages, especially in North America, are extremely endangered.
Here you will find a set of documents relating to them: a video presentation of the Kalaallisut language in Greenland, articles written by researchers, and description sheets of the languages and language families of the continent.
