The department of Anthropology of Washington DC’s National Museum of Natural History seeks a program manager for its Recovering Voices project – an interdisciplinary Smithsonian program working with communities to document and sustain endangered languages and knowledge.
The position is based in Washington DC and will include frequent domestic and international travel. The successful candidate will be in charge of the overall management and administration of the program through planning projects, workshops, symposia, and conferences. He/she will also be responsible for public outreach (including website development), budget and fundraising activities. The program manager is expected to create long-term partnerships with communities worldwide.
Ideal candidates hold a Ph.D. in anthropology, linguistics, human geography or related fields, with an emphasis on interdisciplinary approaches to language endangerment or endangered knowledge systems. Experience in successful grant writing or fundraising will be considered.
Salary: $74,872/year, health coverage included.
