Sorosoro – August 18, 2011
Sorosoro is back after a summer break ! With more videos in Tamasheq, fresh news, the agenda, and a new word of the fortnight !
New videos
Our series of Tamasheq « lessons » ends at the same time as our summer break ! Poet and professor Mohamad Hamza has previously introduced us to numbers and colors. As for Moussa Ag Keyna, singer/guitarist of the band Toumast, he has taken on the task of teaching us the days of the week and, this week, the names of body parts.
You may also want to listen, again and again, to the 3 songs Moussa played for us in acoustic version : Innulamane (The hawk), Tallyatt idaght (This girl), and Kik ayittma (Hey brothers !)…
News
August 9, 2011: message by UN Secretary-General on International Day of the World’s Indigenous Peoples.
August 11, 2011: AustraliaNews.com article on new source for documenting Aboriginal languages: the letters and diaries of British naval officers, surveyors and missionaries…
Agenda
September 15, 2011: application deadline for the Volkswagen Foundation call for projects, as part of its DoBeS program on endangered languages documentation…
Not forgetting…
A new word of the fortnight, awaiting your numerous translations (and, if need be, your enlightened observations on cultural perceptions of colors as well) : « Green ».
And an updated Soroquiz on our homepage…
We wish all sorophiles an excellent week, and hope those from the northern hemisphere have a good end of summer !
