June 18, 2011: Network for the Linguistic and Educational Rights of the Indigenous Peoples of Chile Forum, Santiago, Chile.
The Network for the Linguistic and Educational Rights of the Indigenous Peoples of Chile advocates the right to cross-cultural education for all, and bilingual cross-cultural education for indigenous peoples.
This Saturday, June 18, the Network is organizing a workshop-forum at the Santiago-based university of Alberto Hurtado following a series of meetings that were held across the country, bringing together members of various indigenous communities. The aim here is to define jointly the terms of a bill known as the General law on the linguistic rights of the native peoples of Chile, which will then be introduced to parliament.
Leaders, educators and students working on the topic are welcome to take part in the workshops.
