This week our blog is devoted to the Navajos: Lucia Dumont, PhD in American civilization, looks at the fate of this community, the decline of its language in the 19th century, and its revitalization though the development of a bilingual education program.

Two young men from Cap Esterias in Gabon, Kopedina and Bovenga Bepiti, have the floor in a new video from our Benga language series. They mention the overfishing of turtles of which they are wrongly accused, and the way in which their daily life and traditions are affected by it…

In an attempt to settle a long-standing controversy, a recent study claims that the Japanese language originated in Korea. Linguists won’t be the only ones interested in these new findings and their political implications.
