May 16, 2011: Senior lecturer in African linguistics application deadline, Cape Town, South Africa
The department of English language and literature of the University of Cape Town seeks a lecturer in African linguistics. Position starts as of January 1st next year, and applications run up to May 16, 2011.
Applicants should hold a PhD degree in linguistics, with a special focus on African language research.
Further requirements include some teaching experience, the command of at least one African language, and an appropriate research and publication record.
Some expertise on indigenous languages of South Africa is also highly desirable.
Responsibilities include teaching general linguistics, both at undergraduate and graduate level, as well as research and administration.
