October 27th : cyber-attack paralyses Survival International website.
We regularly post on our own website information provided by Survival International, a human-rights organization focusing on the rights of indigenous peoples across the world.
Lately, this NGO has been the victim of a massive cyber-attack which caused heavy damage to its website‘s infrastructure. The offensive was launched on Wesneday October 27th at 5pm with a test attack, and evolved into an extremely sophisticated bombardment by thousands of computers, succeeding in paralysing the website totally the same evening.
The Director of Survival International indicated that the operation was on a high scale and the damage huge. He feels the attacks might be a « response » to the actions carried out by the NGO. Survival has recently called for a boycott of Botswana as a means of protesting against the country’s politics regarding Bushmen from Kalahari ; it has also put online a video showing Papus being tortured by indonesian soldiers.
