September 24 – October 3, 2010: A Week of foreign cultures in Paris
Want to learn new languages? Then don’t miss the Week of foreign cultures held in Paris from September 24 to October 3, 2010! For the ninth year in a row, over 40 cultural centers and institutes are opening their doors to the public for free introductions to about as many languages.
Most of the languages involved are widely spoken, but lovers of endangered languages will not be left out with the possibility, for example, to have a go at an Inuit language, Inuktitut, at the Canadian Cultural Center; or try Catalan, or Indian languages…
Plus this Week will evolve around a rich cultural programme with various exhibitions, concerts, projections, performances and roundtables.
Highlights include Korean shaman Kim Keum-Hwa, declared “living cultural treasure”, who will present the Ch’olmurikut ritual celebration at the quai Branly museum, on October 1st and 2nd.
And youngsters will even have a space for their own, with the opportunity to draw their first letters in Inuktitut, or discover Chinese calligraphy…
