Reminder for linguists who wish to attend the following conferences:

Three more weeks to submit presentation abstracts for the second International Conference on Language Documentation and Conservation, held in February 2011 at the University of Hawaii. Deadline: August 31.

Likewise, presentation proposals for the Conference on the Phonology of Endangered Languages, held in January 2011, NYC, should be submitted by September 1st.

Language indexes

Gérard Galtier, linguist and professor at the Inalco (French “National Institute for Eastern languages and Civilisations”), provides us this week with a description of Soninke (soon to be translated in English), a Mande language mostly spoken in West Africa and in the diaspora.

Our Spanish website is gaining in consistency thanks to the generous work of our volunteer translators. This week welcomes an index for Portuguese-based Creoles, with three languages descriptions available so far:
