May 30, 2010: Linguist Stéphane Robert mentions Sorosoro action on France Culture
The Sorosoro program keeps making the news!
As part of a collaboration with the Sénélangues project aiming to document endangered languages from West Africa, Sorosoro recently stayed in Senegal for numerous filming sessions, first in the Bedik area, and then in Casamance.
In Tire ta Langue (“Pull your tongue”), a program aired on France Culture, Stéphane Robert, linguist and research director at the CNRS-LLACAN laboratory on “Speech, languages and cultures of sub-Saharan Africa”, spoke on her background and what brought her to study African languages. Sure enough, she mentioned the ambitious Sénélangues project as well as the actions led on field by Sorosoro.
Two endangered languages have been documented so far within our promising collaboration: Baynunk and Menik.
