June 17-19, 2010: International Conference on “Multilingualism and Multiculturalism in a Global Context », École des Mines, Paris, France.
How to transmit an ever changing language? How can our institutions and technologies adapt to constant cultural changes? How to reconsider possible means of parallel culture and language transmission?
.Such are the issues that this conference will address in a few days…
A series of round tables will be held around the following topics:
– Globalization, multilingualism and research missions in linguistics
– French language as a scientific vector in the globalized context of linguistic research.
– Multilingual city
– Multilingual and multicultural education?
.This international conference is organized by the “Pluralité des Langues et des Identités : Didactique, Acquisition, Médiations” (PLIDAM) research team, attached to the French INALCO (“National Institute of Oriental Languages and Civilisations”), and by the SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies of London University).
.It follows on from a previous event organized in London last February on the theme of identity and multilingualism.
