June 21 – July 30: InField 2010 Workshops, Eugene, Oregon, USA
Following the 2008 first edition, InField (Institute for field linguistics and linguistic documentation) is organizing this year a new series of workshops at the University of Oregon, USA.
InField 2010 aims to provide linguists, teachers, language activists and members of linguistic minorities with a field linguistics training on a variety of topics relevant to language documentation, maintenance and revitalization.

InField 2010 will start with a two week long series of workshops, from June 21 to July 2. The subjects approached will be as diverse as the stages of language documentation, field methodology, various tools like Toolbox or ELAN, the production of a grant proposal, pedagogy, ethics, etc.
Following this first week, the Lab Week, from July 5 to 9, will enable participants to work on their own projects with the help and advice of InField team members.
From July 5 to 30, 4 weeks of Field Training will allow participants to put into use the skills developped during the two week workshop sessions. The exercise will be based on Uyghur (Turkic family), Wapishana (Arawak family) and Northern Paiute (Uto-Aztecan family), thanks to the notable presence of native speakers.
At the same time, from June 25 to 27, participants will be able to attend a series of conferences on several native american languages (Athabascan, Salish and Hokan languages).

Alongside with these workshops, participants will have the opportunity to attend the 13th edition of the NILI Summer (Northwest Indian Language Institute) from June 21 to July 2, as well as the 17th Stabilizing Indigenous Languages Symposium (SILS) also organised by the NILI, from June 25 to 27.
