April 30, 2010: Latin Union Conference, Paris
The Union Latin is organizing a conference on the “Presence, impact and value of Romance languages in the society of knowledge” (Presence, poids et valeur des langues romanes dans la société de la connaissance), to be held in Paris on Friday 30 April, 2010 at the International Organisation of la Francophonie (13 quai André Citroën).
The program includes seminars by linguists and experts on the status of Latin languages, and on the observation of their presence and vitality within different areas.
This event will also be the opportunity for the Latin Union to launch their new website, Portalingua, now becoming an “observatory on the presence of languages within knowledge”.
The section of their previous website containing descriptions of the languages covered by the Latin Union will not be lost, because the organization has generously donated this data to Sorosoro (around a hundred languages). We’re progressively adding this data online, and you can already access it either through our language planisphere or our language families page. Rozenn Milin will speak during the conference to present the Sorosoro website as well as the way in which this database was used.
The program for this event may be consulted here.
