Main dialects: According to Waters (1989:249), Djinba, Dabi Manyadjalpingu, Walmapuy and Ganalibingu clans speak dialects of Djinba. That is, the term Djinba is used as both a language and a dialect name.
Classification: Pama-Nyungan, Yuulngu languages.
All the Yuulngu languages are sometimes considered as dialects of a Yuulngu “macro-language”.
Geographic Area: Australia, Northern Territory in Ngangalala, Arnhem Land, southeast adjoining Djinang area.
Number of speakers: The 2006 Australian Bureau of Statistics’ census counted 53speakers of Djinba.
Language vitality & transmission :
Austlang gives no information about Djinba’s vitality. However it is fair to assume that this is an highly endangered language.
