INALI and SIL estimate 28 000 speakers. A variation of Amuzgo is spoken by over 23 000 people in the South-East of the state of Guerrero. Two other variations are spoken in the South-East of the state of Oaxaca, in San Pedro Amuzgos (4 000 speakers) and in Santa Maria Ipalapa (1 200 speakers).
