October 20, 2011: Tenure-track Assistant Professor position application deadline, University of Victoria, Canada
The University of Victoria Department of Linguists seeks an Assistant Professor specialized in Indigenous Language Revitalization.
The department draws particular focus on linguistic description, field community-based research, second language and applied linguistics research, and the languages of the Pacific Rim, including Asian and North American languages.
Candidates are expected to hold a PhD in Linguistics (or equivalent) with a specialization in Indigenous Language Revitalization. Their research projects will involve community-based research, and more specifically language documentation, sociolinguistics, psycholinguistics, second language acquisition processes, and semantics. Candidates should also have leadership experience in Indigenous language revitalization programs.
This position includes the teaching of courses in undergraduate and graduate programs, as well as MA and PhD student supervision.
Position effective on July 1st, 2012.
Canadian citizens and permanent residents will be given priority.
