January 14, 2011: application deadline for Assistant Professor of Linguistics position, University of Hawai’i
The Department of Linguistics at the University of Hawai‘i at Mānoa invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position in Language Documentation and Conservation, to begin August 1, 2011.
Applicants must hold a Ph.D. in linguistics or related field, provide evidence of superior teaching, and demonstrate expertise in computational methods of data archiving, manipulation and dissemination. Practical fieldwork experience and a demonstrated commitment to the goals of language documentation and conservation are required.
In addition, the following qualifications are desirable: prior knowledge of one or more Asian and/or Pacific languages; expertise in phonology, typology, morphology, or field psycholinguistics. The department is especially interested in candidates who are willing to participate fully in its many language documentation activities, including taking a leadership role in the electronic journal.
