December 2010: OLAC launches a new search service on languages
OLAC (Open Language Archives Community) is an international partnership of institutions and individuals creating a worldwide virtual library of language resources.
The initiators of this database are the Linguistic Data Consortium and libraries of the University of Pennsylvania, the Graduate Institute of Applied Linguistics, Dallas, Texas, and the University of Melbourne, Australia.
OLAC’s main financial support is the National Science Foundation, most important research funding institution in the US.
As of December 2010, OLAC provides a new tool enabling access through various partner sites and contributors to over 100,000 documents on thousands of languages: text collections, audio recordings, dictionaries, digital and traditional archives, etc.
