The Wangka Maya Pilbara Aboriginal Language Centre, one of Australia’s leading language centres, is looking for two full-time linguists.
The first position is for an experienced, motivated senior linguist who can engage with the community and effectively manage the centre’s language projects. Highly developed linguistic analysis and staff management skills essential.
$68,530pa plus attractive salary sacrifice options, annual airfare, district allowance, electricity allowance. Housing is provided.
The centre is also looking for a junior linguist. An exciting opportunity for a linguist looking to gain fieldwork and analytical experience. Would suit a recent graduate.
$63,699pa plus attractive salary sacrifice options, annual airfare, district allowance, electricity allowance. Short-term accommodation provided to assist in relocation.
The centre is located in Port-Hedland, in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, which is a linguistically diverse and rich area, with opportunities to work with languages of varying degrees of endangerment and viability. Wangka Maya is a supportive environment for both field and office-based linguistic work. It has well-established infrastructure and processes and considers academic work and community work as complementary to one another.
