October 14-15: Workshops at the CREDO (Centre de Recherche et de Documentation sur l’Océanie), Marseille, France.
These workshops will focus on the theory and practical application of linguistic documentation, especially regarding digital corpora.
Special guest this year: Peter Austin, Director of the Endangered Languages Academic Program (ELAP) at SOAS (School of Oriental and African Studies), London, and member of the Sorosoro Scientific Board.
Peter Austin, specialist on Australian Aboriginal languages and Austronesian languages of Indonesia, will be holding two conferences: an introduction to the concepts and main practices of linguistic documentation, and another on meta-documentation processes and their importance for the sustainability and accessibility of filed data.
Among others taking part in the workshops will be Laurent Dousset, of the CREDO, Judith Hannoun, of the MAP (Maison Asie Pacifique), and Maïa Ponsonnet (CREDO/ANU, Canberra) – with a focus on various data platforms: ODSAS, an archiving and annotation system for social and human sciences, and Austkin, an Australian experimental platform for the managing and mapping of specific vocabularies.
