September 10, 2010 – How to help Pakistan flood victims?
A few weeks ago we mentionned the massive floods that have caused thousands of victims in Pakistan. Several endangered languages populations count among these victims.
Sorosoro wishes to show its support to FLI (Forum for Language Initiatives), a Pakistanese NGO working on the safeguard and revitalization of indigenous languages in the North of the country, especially Gawri, Torwali, Indus Kohistani, Khowar and Palula.
FLI has launched a remarkable rescue programme for members of these communities. The aim is to provide basic food resources to these people who have seen their crops and orchards destroyed, and their domestic animals swept away by the ferocious amounts of water that have struck the country.
Sorosoro hopes to relay this urgent call for help until it is heard by all lovers of the world languages.
Donations are received by FLI and packed into food parcels, each of which containing 10kg of flour, 5kg of rice, 2,5 kg of oil, 1kg of tea, 1kg of powdered milk, 3kg of sugar, 1kg of dates, 5kg of vegetables and 5 packs of biscuits.
FLI work in full transparency.
You may send a donation via Western Union to one of the three following representatives: Fakhrud Din – fakhruddin@fli-online.org, Mary Nasreen Herold – mary@fli-online.org, Muhammad Zaman – zaman@fli-online.org. Their handling of this outstanding humanitarian programme is exemplary, and they’ll be able to provide you, if needed, with more details on how the aid is managed.
