March 30 – July 18, 2010: « Other Masters of India » exhibition at the Musée du Quai Branly
India in place of honour this year, at the Musée du Quai Branly, with workshops, narrated visits, exhibitions and screenings for everyone’s interest, from children to grownups… Perfect setting for the ongoing exhibition « Other Masters of India », dedicated to fine arts in the Indian communities known as the Adivasi, a Sanskrit term meaning first settlers.
The work presented at this exhition from March 30 to July 18 stands way off the usual standards of Indian art. Truly outstanding, but also incredibly diverse, secular or sacred, ancient or contemporary, the pieces presented at « Other Masters of India » shines a broader light on these Indian populations, and is a great opportunity for the public to unveil this unknown area of Indian contemporary art.
In times of clouded skies and Islandic volcanic irruptions, the poor people who have no choice but to stay in Paris now have a real alternative to a boring flight home…
