March 1, 2010 : showing of « Le Peuple Invisible », Paris
Monday, March 1, 2010. 8pm : Survival and the Filmothèque du Quartier Latin present showing of « Le Peuple Invisible », by Richard Desjardins & Robert Monderie.
« Le Peuple Invisible » is a documentary glance on the final destinies of Quebec’s Algonquin people, eventually forced to a sedentary lifestyle, cut away from their traditions and often constrained to poverty. Never giving in to stereotypes, the two filmmakers have explored the very last plots of the Algonquin land so as to let their dwellers speak, and allow their desperate silence to be heard.
The showing will be followed by a discussion with ethnologist Emmanuel Désaveaux.
