{"id":56131,"date":"2011-09-26T18:00:01","date_gmt":"2011-09-26T16:00:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/?p=56131"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:21:47","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T20:21:47","slug":"september-26-2011-cafe-bilingue-roundtable-on-plurilingual-children-paris","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/en\/2011\/09\/september-26-2011-cafe-bilingue-roundtable-on-plurilingual-children-paris\/","title":{"rendered":"September 26, 2011: CAFE Bilingue roundtable on plurilingual children, Paris"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">For five years now, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cafebilingue.com\/\" target=\"_blank\">CAFE Bilingue<\/a>, an information and training center for bilingual and plurilingual education based in Paris, has been aiming to <strong>promote bilingualism and plurilingualism in education<\/strong> through various activities, with particular efforts geared towards the preservation of home languages when possible, and the recognition of families\u2019 plurilingual heritage.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Building on substantial hands-on experience with families of very diverse origins and languages, CAFE Bilingue also organises seminars and discussions, group counselling, family picnics and language celebrations, as well as training for early childhood, health and education professionals, and anyone working in a multicultural environment.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The upcoming roundtable, as part of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/en\/september-26-2011-10th-european-day-of-languages\">European Day of Languages<\/a>, is themed \u00ab <strong>Plurilingual children, from elite bilingualism to migrant plurilingualism<\/strong> \u00bb, with a focus described as follows:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>Bilingualism is a daily experience for millions of families living in France. While viewed as an asset for some, it is ignored and disparaged by others.
