Also a photographer and a writer, he <strong>works on worldwide indigenous cultures<\/strong>, most especially in Haiti, Amazonia and the Andes.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">First published in 2009, <em><strong>The Wayfinders: Why Ancient Wisdom Matters in the Modern World<\/strong><\/em>, his most recent work, has just been published in French.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<div id=\"attachment_52890\" style=\"width: 459px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-52890\" class=\"size-full wp-image-52890\" title=\"Wade Davis\" src=\"http:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wade-Davis.jpg\" alt=\"Wade Davis (Photo : Ryan Hill)\" width=\"449\" height=\"299\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wade-Davis.jpg 449w, https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/Wade-Davis-300x199.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 449px) 100vw, 449px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-52890\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Wade Davis (Photo : Ryan Hill)<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Working up the acknowledgment that human cultures are disappearing faster than animal or plant species, the author is concerned with the impact of such cultural loss in terms of knowledge, ways of thinking, and artistic and spiritual expression.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">From one side of the planet to the other, French Polynesia to Mali, the Andes to Tibet, <strong>he pays a tribute to these people said to live in better harmony with their environment<\/strong> \u2013 for Davis, every culture, including that of very small human groups, also tells the story of its own adaptation to its environment. It is no accident that the ever-faster extinction of microcultures matches a phase of unprecedented extinction and decrease of biodiversity \u2013 both are related.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Along the way Davis mentions <strong>modern issues<\/strong> such as global warming, globalization, sustainable development. He pushes forward a few alternative solutions that could help man not destroy the planet, without necessarily vilifying technical development:<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Change is the one constant in history.
