{"id":45446,"date":"2011-04-22T12:37:41","date_gmt":"2011-04-22T10:37:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/?p=45446"},"modified":"2025-10-21T22:58:07","modified_gmt":"2025-10-21T20:58:07","slug":"april-22-23-2011-conference-on-the-endangered-languages-and-cultures-of-native-america-celcna-salk-lake-city-usa","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/en\/2011\/04\/april-22-23-2011-conference-on-the-endangered-languages-and-cultures-of-native-america-celcna-salk-lake-city-usa\/","title":{"rendered":"April 22-23, 2011: (Conference on the Endangered Languages and Cultures of Native America) CELCNA, Salk Lake City, USA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <strong>Center for American Indian languages<\/strong> of the University of Utah will be holding its 7th <strong>annual conference <\/strong>devoted to American Indian language on <strong>April<\/strong> <strong>Friday 22 and Saturday 23<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The event shares two parallel schedulings over the two days: a workshop on \u201c<strong>Teaching American Indian Languages to Beginning Level Learners<\/strong>\u201d and a <strong>conference cycle on endangered languages across the world<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The workshop includes different sessions: \u201dUsing Writing as a Tool\u201d on Friday morning, followed by \u201dImmersion Teaching Demonstration in Omaha &amp; Shoshoni\u201d in the afternoon, and \u201cCreating Immersion Based Lesson Plans: Materials Development\u201d on Saturday morning.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Conferences will essentially evolve around languages of the American North although there will be some lectures on languages of Latin America, Africa (Congo) and Asia (Bangladesh).
