{"id":36185,"date":"2011-01-29T12:00:11","date_gmt":"2011-01-29T11:00:11","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/?p=36185"},"modified":"2010-12-19T15:56:16","modified_gmt":"2010-12-19T14:56:16","slug":"january-29-2011%c2%a0-babeleyes-show-at-anis-gras-arcueil-france","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/en\/2011\/01\/january-29-2011%c2%a0-babeleyes-show-at-anis-gras-arcueil-france\/","title":{"rendered":"January 29, 2011\u00a0: BabelEyes show at Anis Gras, Arcueil, France."},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>BabelEyes<\/strong> is a unique <strong>musical and multimedia show<\/strong> composed by <strong>Philippe Kadosh<\/strong>, an \u201c<strong>ethnopera of Endangered Languages<\/strong>\u201d as he likes to call it.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Composed for <strong>voice<\/strong>, <strong>sinfonietta orchestra<\/strong> and <strong>ethnic percussions<\/strong>, this at once poetic, sociological, linguistic, and musical journey allows the audience to apprehend the issue of <strong>endangered languages <\/strong>and <strong>disappearing cultures<\/strong> through an artistic approach.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The purpose is unusual: Philippe Kadosh speaks of &#8220;virgin BabelEyes languages\u201d, meaning languages inspired from endangered languages, which are heard over a background of original compositions influenced by various musical cultures: classical music, odd rhythms of the Balkans, Middle Eastern and Far Eastern melodies, African, Indian, Spanish and Brazilian beats.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The whole delivers a music with ethnic echoes, created around speech sounds and playing with the acoustic, phonetic, graphic and visual material of world languages.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Four musicians<\/strong> perform live: Sardinian singer <strong>Valentina Casula<\/strong>, flutist <strong>Lena Gutka<\/strong>, cellist <strong>Mimi Sunnerstam <\/strong>(cello of the Saami indigenous people) and <strong>Philippe Kadosh<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">They accompany the sounds and virtual songs of Brazilian singer <strong>Tet\u00ea Espindola<\/strong> and <strong>Indians from the Pareci tribe<\/strong> (Matto Grosso, Brazil).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">On <strong>Monday 13 December<\/strong> Philippe Kadosh and Valentina Casula were Bruno Letort\u2019s guests on his Radio <strong>France Musiques<\/strong> show called \u201c<strong>Tapage Nocturne<\/strong>\u201d, which can be <a href=\"http:\/\/sites.radiofrance.fr\/francemusique\/em\/tapage\/emission.php?e_id=18\" target=\"_blank\">downloaded<\/a> for a period of two weeks.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">This show is supported by \u201cCulturesfrance\u201d and the Brazilian Ministry of Culture.
