The language concerned is <strong>S\u00eesh\u00eb\u00eb<\/strong>, one of the 28 <strong>Kanak languages of New Caledonia<\/strong>, spoken by a handful of people around Moindou and Bourail. According to UNESCO criteria, it is <strong>critically endangered<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The author conveys the words of Roger Tavergeux, one of the last speakers of S\u00eesh\u00eb\u00eb.
