After weeks spent with the Akele in Gabon, we\u2019re back in Guatemala to catch up with the Kaqchikel people.<\/p>\n

Those who keep track of our work may have come across a series of videos on the Maya New Year<\/a>, including extracts of the celebration and explanations of the master of ceremony. We\u2019re now moving on to daily life terms. For a start, numbers from 1 to 40<\/strong>, taught by Jos\u00e9 Alfredo Obdulio Per\u00e9n Gabino. The discerning ear won’t help but notice how different the sound of Kaqchikel is from the other languages we have worked on so far\u2026<\/p>\n
