The conference will gather researchers and teachers in languages from all countries, as an opportunity for them to share observations and methods regarding teaching, intercultural interaction and multilingualism<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\n

While most of the conference will be devoted to widely spoken languages such as English, Chinese or Japanese, the two day programme will also include more general presentations on the way context influences understanding. Among others:<\/p>\n

– Advertising identical products in two cultures<\/em>, by Paul Stapleton<\/p>\n

– Tutorials and the Influence of Cultueal Values<\/em>, by Roy Edwards<\/p>\n

… and the two following conferences, on a more specifically linguistic level:<\/p>\n

– Oceanian languages helping FSL in a New Caledonian school<\/em>, by Claire Colombel<\/p>\n

– Family Language Policies and Maintenance of Two Mother Tongues<\/em>, by Jie Shi, Yasuhiro Oshita and Yang Fang.<\/p>\n

PPL18 is organized by the Kobe University School of Languages and Communication (SOLAC) and the Japanese Association for Language Teaching (JALT), following the 17th edition<\/a> held in 2007 at the University of Hawaii.<\/p>\n
