The ACBLPE<\/strong> International Conference is organized by the CNRS-based\u00a0LLACAN<\/a><\/strong> lab (Langage, Langues et Cultures d\u2019Afrique Noire<\/em>) and the INALCO<\/a><\/strong> (Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales<\/em>).\u00a0It will be held on the CNRS Campus from July 1 to 3, 2010, thanks to the support of the Latine Union<\/strong>, and of the Department of Cooperation and Cultural Action of the French Embassy in Cape Verde.<\/p>\n

The central question of this 10th edition of the conference will be\u00a0Ibero-Romance-based Creole languages<\/strong>, and will evolve around the <\/strong>following topics:<\/p>\n

–\tDeveloping links and mutual understanding among the speakers of different Creole languages.<\/p>\n

–\tBilingual education, teaching of Creole languages.<\/p>\n

– Creolization processes, and non-European variants of Spanish and Portuguese.<\/p>\n

–\tVarious research subjects approaching the Ibero-Romance-based Creole languages whether it be through morphology, grammar, history, sociolinguistics, etc\u2026<\/p>\n

\n

Note the participation of St\u00e9phane ROBERT, member of the Sorosoro Scientific Board, research director at the LLACAN lab, and Director of the CNRS Typology and Linguistic Universals Federation.<\/p>\n

American linguist John Mc Whorter, who<\/span><\/strong> <\/strong>specialises in Creole languages, will also be present as a guest speaker and moderator of the final session.<\/p>\n

The Conference will conclude with a round table on the teaching of Creole languages.<\/p>\n
