February 21st, UNESCO celebrates two events: the tenth International Mother Language Day and the end of the International Year of Languages. It\u2019s an opportunity for the UNESCO, instigator of these two projects for linguistic diversity, to organize conferences and meetings on February 18th and 20th. Among its guests is Rozenn Milin, Sorosoro Program Director at the Fondation Chirac.<\/p>\n

On February 18th<\/strong>, Rozenn Milin will speak during a conference organized by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) on \u201cIndigenous Languages: worldviews, globalization, development and peace\u201d. The aim is to debate the creation of a new international legal instrument to protect endangered languages and indigenous languages.<\/p>\n

On February 20th, <\/strong>Rozenn Milin will speak again, at UNESCO headquarters, within the context of International Mother Language Day. During this day, UNESCO wants to show the results of the International Year of Languages, among which is the \u201cSorosoro, so that the languages of the world may prosper!\u201d<\/a> launched at the Fondation Chirac.<\/p>\n

Many other events will also take place: the presentation of the Third Edition of the Atlas of the World\u2019s Endangered Languages, a conference about \u201cthe languages matter for communities \u2013 the way forward\u201d, the Design 21 Prize award for the International Mother Language Day poster and the screening of the movie \u201cThe Linguists\u201d with a discussion with film director and producer Daniel Miller.<\/p>\n
