It is a <strong>Bantu language<\/strong>, spoken in the Tchibanga area. There are around 132,000 speakers of Punu today, but an increasingly important movement of Bapunu people towards the larger urban areas is causing a gradual <strong>loss <\/strong>of their <strong>language<\/strong> and <strong>cultural <\/strong>knowledge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.sorosoro.org\/en\/punu\" target=\"_blank\">Read more on the Punu language<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">In June 2009, <strong>Sorosoro<\/strong> went filming on the <strong>Punu language<\/strong> in the area of Tchibanga, in southern <strong>Gabon<\/strong>. Our team was there with linguists <strong>Jean-Marie Hombert<\/strong> (Lyon 2 Louis Lumi\u00e8re University) and <strong>Patrick Mouguiama-Daouda<\/strong> (University of Libreville) to collect sound and visual material.
