Area<\/strong>: Australia, Northern Territory. McArthur River district, from around Borroloola to the coast, as well as the Pellew Islands at the river mouth.<\/p>\n

Number of speakers<\/strong>: A 2005 National Indigenous Languages Survey Report estimated 70 speakers of Yanyuwa, whereas a 2006 Australian Bureau of Statistics Census counted 129.<\/p>\n

Language vitality & transmission<\/strong>:<\/p>\n

UNESCO considers Yanyuwa to be \u00ab severely endangered \u00bb.<\/p>\n
