The traditional area of the Badimaya includes a large area south-west of the area recorded by Tindale (1974), although Tindale does indicate \u2018disputed territory\u2019 in this region. However, the territory around Lake Moore\/Ninghan is attested, as my informant, Mr Joe Benjamin, can trace back three generations of site ownership. Today, the Badimaya are scattered in towns throughout the Murchison Region in Mullewa, Cue, Mingenew, Mt Magnet, Yalgoo, Carnarvon, and Meekatharra. There are many people remaining of Badimaya descent, but if they speak a traditional language, it is usually Watjarri, otherwise known as the \u2018Murchison\u2019 or \u2018Yamadyi\u2019 language, which has become the region\u2019s dominant language (Dunn 1988:20) <strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">At Cue, Nannine, Mount Magnet; southwest almost to Yalgoo, northwestern boundary is on Sandford River divide (Tindale 1974).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Number of speakers:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The <em>National Indigenous Languages Survey 2005 Report<\/em> estimated 3 speakers of Badimaya.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Vitality &amp; transmission:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Nowadays Badimaya is \u201cno longer fully spoken\u201d (endangerment grade 0), according to AUSTLANG.<strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong> <\/strong><\/p>\n<h5 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Sources &amp; <\/strong><strong>bibliography<\/strong><\/h5>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Dunn, Leone. 1988. <em>Badimaya, a Western Australian language<\/em>.
